Carara is an indigenous word meaning ´river of crocodiles´. Carara is a very important National Park on the Pacific side of Costa Rica because it protects some of the most endangered species of the country such as the scarlet macaws (ara macao) and purple heart trees (peltogyne purpurea) The park receives about 75 inches of rainfall per year which makes it a great rain forest.  Here it is possible to see a large and varied number of birds including Toucans, Scarlet Macaws, Trogons and many other tropical bird species, if you are a bird lover, this is an absolute heaven for you.  Here we will also find Howler Monkeys, White-faced Monkeys, Poison dart-frogs, sloths, and reptiles.  The trails in this area are in very good condition where hiking is easy to moderate and most of it is under the shade of some of the most spectacular trees characteristic of the Neotropical rain forest.  Here you will encounter Purple heart, Wild Cashew, Kapok, Gallinazo, Rubber tree and the Ron-Ron tree. 

What to bring: Water, Good hiking shoes, long pants or shorts (it depends on how sweet your blood is!) mosquito repellent, rain gear, hat, long-sleeve shirt, binoculars, camera, medication if you are taking some, disposition and desire to learn more about rain forests.

Duration: 3 hours.

This area features a Zip Line tour in a very exuberant rain forest at Punta Leona Beach Resort; here you will be able to zip from tree to tree sitting on a harness. We provide all the equipment which is made exclusively for this kind of activity with our number one commitment is to safety. It is possible to find wildlife in this area but there are no guarantees.

What to bring: Comfortable tennis shoes, -no sandals please- sunscreen, mosquito repellent (100% Deet recommended), comfortable clothing, camera, a small poncho in case it rains, the weather in this area can change from sunshine to rain almost instantly!

Duration: 2 hours.

This river is world famous because it has one of the most diverse ecosystems in existence. Here you can find a large number of crocodiles (some as large as 18 feet!) Iguanas of several kinds, and if you are a bird lover this tour WILL NOT disappoint you!

What to bring: Sunscreen, hat, camera, extra film/flash Cards, water.

Jacó Beach has attained world-wide recognition as one of the best surfing beaches in the world with spectacular waves that are so essential for this sport.  World renowned surfing tournaments take place at this wonderful spot.  Here you will find great shopping opportunities at the local stores that offer a wide variety of goods at reasonable prices, maybe you just want to relax, have a drink and enjoy the beautiful beach and wonderful scenery.

Located on the Central Volcanic Mountain Range. Poas is still an active volcano with its crater almost one mile in diameter. With its fumaroles and geyser-type hot steam springs, Poas is a mammoth volcano at around 8200 ft in elevation and the drive to this wonderful lookout is simply spectacular. This is one of the very few volcanoes in Latin America accessible all the way to the zenith. The temperatures at this high elevation may be only a cool 50 F degrees.

When we descend Poas Volcano we make a stop to enjoy a delicious lunch in a restaurant with a very rich Costa Rican style where all meals are cooked with wood, giving the food its authentic home made traditional Costa Rican taste.

After lunch, we descend further and arrive at Sarchí. The town of Sarchí has become famous because it was in this town where more than one-hundred years ago a few Costa Rican families started to make their now-famous, highly decorated oxcarts that were used to carry the coffee beans and bananas to the shipping ports. This place is now well-known as the cradle of this amazing craftsmanship.

What to bring: Jacket/Sweater, rain gear, sunscreen (30 or higher), camera, binoculars, and any necessary prescribed medications.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens is one of Costa Rica's best kept secret!. At this spectacular Waterfall Gardens you will enjoy a day filled with diversity. At this marvelous place you will find one of the largest butterfly farms on earth. You will also find here a mini-zoo that houses toucans, monkeys and parrots. Continuing on the trail watch for the many hummingbirds that pass flying very fast at a place called hummingbird station. Next, the delicious smell of the wonderful food at the open-air restaurant awaits us.

After a great buffet lunch we continue exploring the area, with our next stop at the frog station, here you will live an unforgettable experience while watching some of the most colorful and attractive creatures of our rain forests. Here you will also get a chance to visit the snake garden; you need not worry as all of these most interesting reptiles are inside secure glass containers. Here you can admire and learn about our snakes a very safe way. This snake garden is also recommended for children.

The major reason we visit La Paz Waterfall Gardens is because here we can find, besides the attractions mentioned, four different waterfalls that will completely relax you and temp you to jump into these natural pools.  This spectacular place with all of the beautiful waterfalls is one of the most tranquil spots in our wonderful country. Get ready to  board a covered boat and enjoy a 2-hour boat safari adventure through the jungle canals of Costa Rica's Caribbean coast and have the opportunity to see many common wildlife species of the area such as sloths, iguanas, caymans, aquatic birds, turtles, monkeys etc.

After the safari, enjoy a delicious lunch outdoors on Hotel Maribu Caribe's Terrace; here you have a magnificent panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea.

Our bilingual guide will meet you early in the morning on the gangway. Our first stop will be to visit the Sloth Sanctuary, also known as the Animal Rescue Center. Here you will spend approximately 2 hours exploring the property by boat and on foot. Afterwards we drive about an hour to Almendros y Corales Lodge to enjoy a delicious lunch. Next, get ready to take part in the "Crazy Monkey Canopy Ride", located on the property of Almendros y Corales Lodge. Here you we will experience your adrenaline rise as you zip between tree tops in a system of various cables. This exciting zip-line tour is for people of all ages including children.
The canopy tour is about 1½ - 2 hours long.

The Crazy Monkey Canopy Tour is the ideal place for magnificent views from the canopy while you are on the platforms and also walking through the rain forest and across hanging bridges. This area provides an excellent opportunity to see a rain forest from a different perspective and surely you will have the chance to watch some wildlife from above while your professional guide identifies and talks about the different species that might appear. It is even more amazing when you arrive at the Natura Park where you will see a Bri-Bri Indian Village from above.

The aborigine families live in a very traditional way as they have for centuries in their typical thatched buildings. A snack at the Almendros y Corales Lodge is included.
